Should not give paracetamol and ibuprofen for fever : American Academy of Pediatrics

Image
Parents should not give children with a mild fever regular spoonfuls of paracetamol and ibuprofen, doctors advise today, as they warn that doing so could extend their illness or put their health at risk. A misplaced “fever phobia” in society means parents too frequently use both medicines to bring down even slight temperatures, say a group of American paediatricians, who warn that children can receive accidental overdoses as a result. In new guidance, the American Academy of Pediatrics advises that a high temperature is often the body’s way of fighting an infection, and warns parents that to bring it down with drugs could actually lengthen a child’s illness. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/.../Parents-warned-against...

Let's look at some chronic constipation myths and then identify the truths: Chronic Constipation Myth: If you don't have one bowe...

Childhood obesity is a serious public health issue now a days

Overweight children are more likely to grow up to be overweight adults. Obesity during adolescence has been found to increase mortality rates during adulthood. Many factors — usually working in combination — increase your child's risk of becoming overweight: • Diet. Know about Acne or Pimples

Image
Most people develop acne -- the most common skin condition -- to some degree, but it primarily affects teenagers undergoing hormonal changes. Acne may be mild (few, occasional pimples), moderate (inflammatory papules), or severe (nodules and cysts). Treatment depends on the severity of the condition. Cause There are different types of acne. The most common acne is the type that develops during the teen years. Puberty causes hormone levels to rise, especially testosterone. These changing hormones cause skin glands to start making more oil (sebum). Oil releases from the pores to protect the skin and keep it moist. Acne begins when oil mixes with dead cells and clogs the skin's pores. Bacteria can grow in this mixture. And if this mixture leaks into nearby tissues, it causes swelling, redness, and pus. A common name for these raised bumps is pimples. Certain medicines, such as corticosteroids or lithium, can cause acne to develop. It isn't just teens who are affected b...
